I just read "caged birds" a few months ago and I loved it, the bookstore that I purchased from recommended that I read all of her books, some people ask me if her story is "uplifting" or is sad, personally I find her books to be interesting, especially for someone to be so vulnerable to even share their life stories. I encourage my friends to read Maya's journey just to show that we can overcome anything.
