Description

Edward Fasbender is a devil.

He’s my father’s business rival, a powerful, vicious man who takes what he wants and bows to no one. I only took the meeting because I was curious. I thought he was going to offer me a job.

But that's not what he's after at all. His proposal is much more intriguing, and I see an opportunity. An opportunity to turn the tables and bring down the devil.

I've gotten in trouble playing these games before. I know when the risk is too great, when the stakes are too high. I know how to be cold and strong-willed and destructive. I know how to withstand dominant men with arrogant charm and rugged features.

Yet I can't resist taking on Edward.

And I can't resist the pull he has on me.

Soon I'm not so sure which side of the battle I'm standing on--if I'm the warrior meant to slay,

Or the one who will be slain.

I was obsessed with the Fixed trilogy and Chandler. Celia’s story could have been way better, I absolutely hate all of the characters, zero depth and the sex scenes sucked. I won’t be buying the next book I could care less what happens to either one of these two.

I was not sure how I would respond to Celia’s story. You know, that Celia from the Fixed series. But I went in with an open mind and wow, just wow. Slay: Rivalry by Laurelin Paige was so much more than I ever imagined. Celia is not perfect and she is the woman she has always been, but we begin to see inside her head and it opens so much about her. When she is summoned by Edward Fasbender, she was not sure what to expect. Edward is not a likable man, but he has plans for Celia. At this point I am not sure how redeemable he is, but he was also captivating and determined. Celia is a woman who is used to commanding those around her and keeping them at arm’s length. Their chemistry is combustible, but both knew the other could be very dangerous. What a story you weave Laurelin Paige! Slay: Rivalry was so many things. It was full of surprises and twists and I could not stop reading. Excited to see what’s to come in the following books in the quartet. Happy reading!

You cannot connect with either character, therefore the book is hard to read.

Oh boy here we go! Queen of angst is bringing the suspense upon us once again. We have a whole new roller coaster of emotion ahead of us and it won’t be a doozy, let me tell you. Ms. Paige can redeem anyone, I know it’s hard to believe but I’m already feeling so sorry for Celia. I know I shouldn’t but I think she’s been going through her own demons she has had to battle. Edward Fasbender is a mystery, an enigma. I am dying to know more about this man and his feeling towards Celia. He holds something over her where Celia submits herself, it’s this energy Edward has about himself that holds Celia captive. These two have me on the edge of my seat! I cannot wait to find out what happens next, I need more like I need to breathe. Get ready, just make sure you don’t have any plans for the day when you read this. Once you start you won’t be able to stop! 5 intense and mysterious stars!
  • Ruthless and mysterious!

What the *bleepity bleep*….because HOLY *bleep*…. I was very hesitant on how I’d feel about this book, knowing what I know and how I feel about the she-devil Celia. I mean, really…the majority of us KNOW how we feel about her, and calling her a she-devil is putting it mildly. But my twisted and perverse mind was also really excited to be introduced to Edward, the man who slayed the dragon. We first met Edward in Fixed Forever, and if you’ve read that book, then you know the overall outcome of the entire Slay series. But what we don’t know is his story…their story. Until now… Slay: Rivalry is ruthless and mysterious, just like Edward himself. And in true Laurelin Paige style, the story line is mesmerizing, intriguing and undoubtedly seductive. Paige gives us an in-depth, behind-the-scenes exclusive into the mind of Celia Werner. Heartless, emotionless, and devious, it literally pains be to even type her name. But upon learning more about her and looking past her one-dimensional attributes, you begin to actually feel more towards Celia other than animosity. And it seems she has found her match in Edward……or has she? You feel excitement when reading this book. It’s sexy, erotic, and beyond unconventional. But it’s also a little sad and dispiriting. You also get one mind-f*ck of a cliffhanger. So hold onto your knickers, you’re in for one hell of a treat. *wink*

Holy crap! I totally didn’t see that coming! And then leaving us hanging...ugh! Laurelin you have once again written another fantastic book and I am so excited to read the next book in the Slay Saga. This series is about Celia and Edward. Celia is finally over Hudson but is so numb. Then Edward comes into the picture and she is starting to thaw a little. Celia is determined to play another game, but she is starting to feel. Edward is stone cold and is doing everything he can to not feel anything for Celia. But Celia was doing everything possible to get some kind of reaction from Edward. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel reading Celia’s story after her involvement with Hudson. I didn’t like her so much! But I’m beginning to think, maybe she isn’t all that bad. I read this book in less than 24 hours. Hooks you right from the beginning to the very end where your left dangling on that hook. This book will not disappoint you what so ever! It is absolutely amazing!!!!

I couldn't wait for this book. I wanted to know what made Celia become that way. This book blew my mind. I absolutely loved it. Edward blew my mind as well. Edward and Celia kept me on my toes in this book. I am still trying to figure out that ending. I need the second book right now! I highly recommend this book. Edward was not nice in this book. I didn't see that coming since in the Fixed Trilogy is was nice and pleasant. When reading about Celia in the fixed trilogy she was downright nasty. In this book you see her start to have feelings and then it backlashes when it came to Edward and what he wanted only. He did exactly what she use to do to other people. It was kind of payback in a way. I do have to say I did like her in this book. I hope she gives Edward a run for his money! This book has me speechless its that good.

Cecilia lives for messing in people’s lives. She is a narcissist bordering on sociopath. Edward needs Cecilia’s help to break into the American market. He thinks her father will help give him an in. Cecilia agrees with her own plan in mind. It is a testament to Laurelin Paige’s writing to create two equally unlikable characters that you are still compelled to keep turning the page. When two master manipulators come together not only is the story steamy it is also unpredictable. I can’t wait to see how this is going to end!!

What the actual heck, Laurelin Paige! We can no longer be friends after that ending! Ok.. so we’re not actual friends now... but still! Oh and I’m slightly obsessed with the Devil now too, I hope you’re happy! Sigh. I don’t know what the do with myself now that I’ve devoured this book so quickly. When does number 2 release again? Because I need it right meow. I never thought I’d feel anything but hate toward the Dragon but dang if this book didn’t change that. I have no idea what’s about to go down between now and how they are in Fixed Forever but I’m more than ready to find out! If you haven’t started in this amazing universe yet, then you need to pick up Fixed on you and not stop until this book comes out and all the rest of them when they release. Trust me on this.

I love that we finally get to see inside Celia's mind. I hated her in the Fixed Trilogy. I'm glad the author didn't spin the first book to where you all of a sudden love her. Celia deserves more thought into her character than that. I'm actually not sure where I land by the end of this first book and that in itself is satisfying. I think there is some bit of vindication that finally someone has come along to shake her world like she has done to others. However, I'm still that reader that wants a happily ever after despite her being enemy #1. I can't wait to see how Laurelin Paige is going to get the readers through that turbulent path. This first book just really had me trying to dissect every little thing that was happening and that ending just turned everything upside down. I have no clue where the next book is headed and I absolutely love that. I loved Edward in the little bit we saw in Fixed Forever but I'm not loving him right now. He's a jerk. He's arrogant, and a part of me wants Celia to put him in his place, but then I want Celia to be redeemed as well. My hope is that they will both be redeemed by the end. Just not until after we get that fascinating tale of how they get there.
