“This is such a fun read and it's also quite original and sexy and sensitive.”—Roxane Gay, New York Times bestselling author

Hoang's writing bursts from the page.”—Buzzfeed

A heartwarming and refreshing debut novel that proves one thing: there's not enough data in the world to predict what will make your heart tick.

Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases—a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old.

It doesn't help that Stella has Asperger's and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice—with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can't afford to turn down Stella's offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan—from foreplay to more-than-missionary position...

Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but crave all of the other things he's making her feel. Their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic...

  • One of my favorites!!!

This is by far one of the best books I have read! I read the whole thing in one sitting and couldn’t put it down. It was nothing like anything I had ever read before and LOVED how it brought in the perspective of someone who has aspergers.
  • An easy beach read about love

This book has a twist on a love story. Easy to read with beautiful rich characters. I would love to see more from this author.
  • Loved this book!

Loved, loved, loved this book! One of my favorites of 2018. I loved & related to Stella’s awkwardness. Loved that Michael was attracted to her because of her differences. Loved the way he made sacrifices for his family. And I especially loved the way Stella & Michael both became better versions of themselves from their time together, while not depending on the other person to make them whole. Highly recommend the audio narrated by Carly Robins who did an marvelous job bringing all the characters to life.
  • My fav book of the year!

    By lovesbooks6565
I was a bit wary starting this book because I didn't want Stella to be written as a one dimensional stereotype. But I did NOT need to worry....this book was soooo good! Very rarely do I love both hero AND heroine but Michael and Stella surpassed my expectations. The chemistry between the 2 is off the charts but also their day to day connection was very cute too. I rarely laugh out loud reading books but that one scene and Michael's quip with dvds and alphabetizing was hilarious. Michael had just enough Alpha in him but was so sweet with Stella. I also loved the piano duet poignant and sweet on so many levels. Stella was a wonderful honest and game playing. The only negative could be the misunderstanding at the end that seemed to drag on a bit. But that is a small negative when considering how much I enjoyed the book. It will definitely put a smile on your face!

I finished the book yesterday and I’m still thinking about the story. It was beautifully written. And I’m writing the review because I’m contemplating buying the audio book to reread/listen. Thank you to the writer for such a lovely read.

I loved the slow warm up to a steady burn of a perfect love story between two imperfect people! As all people are imperfect- it’s a totally relatable! Oh, I want the name and number of the male escort service that has MICHAEL-like escorts!!
  • Amazing Debut!!

    By Laura__F
This is an amazing debut novel!!!!! I read an excerpt and was completely hooked and needed to read more. I was curious how this story was going to play out, how a main character on the autism spectrum would be portrayed respectfully, and how the interactions between Stella and Michael were going to be. Prior to reading, I wasn't aware that the author is also on the spectrum so my concern that respect wouldn't be given was all for naught. From the beginning, I was sucked in and couldn't put this book down. I loved absolutely everything about Stella and Michael, both individually and together. This author has made me completely invested in everyone introduced in this story and I am anxiously awaiting the next in this series. *This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*
  • You’re Going to Love it! It’s Economics 💛

Perfect. This book was honest to goodness PERFECT. It was genuine, sincere, and had so much heart. I really cannot believe that this is Helen Hoang's debut novel. I was sucked into this book right from the start and couldn't get enough. I absolutely loved Stella and Michael, both individually and together. Their journey was so unique and refreshing. It made me re-examine myself and my own views through a different lens. Though their relationship starts off unconventionally, their chemistry is immediate and only grows as their feelings begin to blur from professional to more. I was so invested in these characters as well as their families. My heart ached for Stella and Michael when they struggled and it rejoiced in their quiet moments and their connection. I loved that they understood each other and truly saw the other for who they really were. Beyond the masks. Beyond the walls. Beyond the labels. The Kiss Quotient was the perfect blend of swoon and sexy, but it also had just the right amount of heartache. There are obstacles to overcome for both of them, but it made the destination so much more gratifying and fulfilling. The self discovery of both Stella and Michael was a beautiful thing to watch unfold. I also especially loved Michael's family and Stella's introduction to the Vietnamese culture. Some of those scenes had me laughing out loud, while others warmed my heart in their familiarity. Hoang's writing is so incredibly heartfelt. You can just feel how much she poured her soul into this novel and into Stella on every page. The Author's Note at the end only confirmed this feeling and gave me deeper insight into the book. I honestly cannot recommend The Kiss Quotient enough and I will be eagerly awaiting Hoang's next book! *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book*
