Markus Reeves is sucking. Big-time. Toiling away on a minor-league hockey team hundreds of miles away from home, he's watching his dreams of an NHL career fade away. Add in the lingering guilt he has over the dramatic demise of his relationship with college girlfriend, Mekena, and he's a mess on and off the ice.
But the family of his heart, the Sinclairs, won't let Markus suffer any longer. When he arrives himself back in Nashville for a trial run on the Assassins, it feels like his life may be making a turn for the better. If only he could get Mekena to forgive him...
Mekena Preston has been hurting since fleeing Nashville following the horror of Markus's betrayal with her sister. Now a professional photographer, Mekena finds herself in the same place at the same time with Markus to celebrate Lucy and Benji Paxton's wedding. Neither of them has been able to move on—and they're starting to wonder if they really want to.
They're headed for a face-off at the altar unless they can confront their past and unearth the truth about what really happened on that fateful night.

  • Worth the wait

These two characters Markus and Mekena have had mirror roles in the Sinclair family stories since the beginning. I have waited and was not disappointed. Amazing story of how love can overcome many obstacles if you truly want to work for it. Very sad but real world twist and then another happy ending. This story might be my favorite after Jace and Avery.

  • Terrific Second Chance Sports Romance!

I was thrilled when I heard there was going to be a new Assassins book coming out! I have read and loved the entire series along with the entire Bellevue Bullies series! So, this story overlaps both series and the beloved characters appear and it felt like coming home. I realized how much I missed these characters. This book can be read as a stand-alone as the authors ties it all up well, but I highly recommend that you read both series just because it is great reading! To top it off, it has two of my favorite genres, second chance romance and sports romance! This book has so many feels to it, happiness, anger, extreme sadness, longing, betrayal, confusion, and a powerful deep love! The author takes on a subject that is not spoken about often and it was handled in a great way. I had a lump in my throat a few times as the twists in the plot unfolded. I laughed out loud at all the crazy banter. You root so hard for these characters and get so involved in their love story. They truly love each other and they go through a lot to get to their HEA. They are sweet together and they have great chemistry. The secondary characters are terrific and you get some thoughts that maybe the author might have some other characters to write about! I didn’t want to put Face-Off At The Alter down, which was tough with the holidays, and I didn’t want it to end. I want more! If you love a great second chance sports romance like I do, then this is a book for you!
