Description

Introduced in Toni Aleo’s Bellevue Bullies Series, it’s the Sinclair brothers’ big sister’s turn to find love in the next installment of the New York Times and USA Today best-selling series, the Assassins.

Lucy Sinclair was no stranger to pain.

She grew up with three younger brothers, met a bad boy, got pregnant by him, married him, and then suffered through a nasty divorce from him. Pain. That was pain. To top it off, she even had to go through the heartbreaking divorce of her parents. Through it all, she survived. All she cared about was making sure her daughter was happy and taken care of. Despite an ex-husband hell-bent on ruining her life, she fought to overcome. She’s gotten to the point that she’s okay with being just okay. She never cared about herself because she never had the time. It was Angie and only Angie she focused on, but that all changed when Benji Paxton offered to help her daughter on the ice.
Benji knew the moment he saw Lucy, he’d never be the same. Especially when she came with the bundle of crazy that was her daughter. His heart wasn’t ready for them. After years spent sobering up and finding who he was without the alcohol, he never forgot he was being punished for not appreciating the love he had when he was younger. Because of his past, he had gotten used to being alone, a recluse, but even he had to admit it was getting old. He was lonely. Hockey wasn’t enough anymore. He wanted a family; he wanted his true love, and Lucy and Angie were just that.

Benji and Lucy were just two lost souls.
Floating through life with no purpose.
But finding each other gave them direction, a chance at a future.

And had them both Rushing the Goal to be together.

Awesome story but the grammatical errors were pretty bad. Would have liked the references to songs to be accurate too, kinda took away from the greatness of the story.

I have liked the Nashville Assassins Series from the start, as well as the spin off series Bellevue Bullies. Lucy Sinclair made her first appearance in Book One of the Bellevue Bullies, Boarded by Love, and her character continued to grow throughout the Series. I have to say I think this is Toni Aleo’s best work yet. She took me on a journey of so many feels in this story. I laughed out loud. I cried. I was angry. I was frustrated. I felt joy. I felt hopeful. This is a true love story from beginning to end. Rushing The Goal dealt with so many issues! Alcoholism, domestic violence, bullying by a spouse and parent, feeling of helplessness in situations, self doubt in parenting, self esteem issues, the pain of failing at marriage and the challenges of co-parenting with a parent that has their own agenda. Guilt and self doubt in being able to love again after the loss of who you thought was your soul mate and your precious child. I felt the deep and abiding love and care that Benji gave to Lucy and her seven year old daughter, Angie. Lucy Sinclair is a strong and driven woman. After her divorce she went back to school and got her interior design degree and started a very successful business. She has been divorced seven years and still doesn’t date because she doesn’t want to introduce someone to Angie and then have them walk away. Lucy is not only dealing with the betrayal of her cheating ex-husband, but her beloved father, who has turned his back on his family for the other woman. This has made Lucy a jealous and bitter woman that no longer smiles unless it has to do with Angie. She is jealous of her sibling’s happy marriages and even of her own mother who has found love again. Even through her trials and tribulations, Lucy loves her family fiercely and they are all up in each other’s business (including her sisters-in-law) and have such a sarcastic loving banter. Then she meets Benjamin Paxton, of the Nashville Assassins and her brother’s teammate and everything changes. Benjamin (Benji) Paxton changes not only Lucy’s but Angie’s world! I want to sing Salt-N-Pepa’s song Whatta Man for Benji Paxton! He is amazing. He is nerdy, sweet and extremely sexy. He is patient and thoughtful. He understands Lucy like no one else can and he is her rock. When he holds Lucy, her world is brought to right! He fell in love with Angie before he fell in love with Lucy and treats Angie like she was his own child. This man is so caring and has a way of steering Lucy in the right direction and giving her the support she needs. I highly recommend this beautiful love story that deals with so much! Thank you Toni for a wonderful book, I absolutely loved it.

I've wanted Lucy Sinclair to get her own book since we first met the Sinclair family. I knew after everything her ex-husband had put her through, and the fact that she had a child, it was going to take a special man to get Lucy to accept him in their lives. Benji Paxton is just the man to take on both Lucy and her daughter Angie and never look back. I absolutely loved Benji so very much. I'd missed meeting him in Overtime, as I somehow skipped it, and I loved that Ms. Aleo completed filled us in on his background. I found Benji to be such a strong, sweet, determined and sexy character. He also was absolutely amazing with Angie and I'm pretty sure I fell in love with him right along with Lucy and Angie. Lucy honestly can best be described as a ball-buster, yet there really is so much more. After learning more about her past with her ex-husband and seeing how her dad leaving the family affected her, I totally got her putting on such a strong front. She will do anything on earth to protect Angie and those people she loves. I loved the instant attraction between Lucy and Benji and totally got her being so very hesitant to move forward with anything, but was so glad Benji made sure he stayed in the picture. I'll be honest and say I absolutely wanted to kick Lucy's ex-husband in his junk more than once when he was around both Lucy and Angie. I don't think I've ever hated a character so much in any book. I was so happy that Lucy and Angie had won the lottery with great guys when Benji entered their lives. I really loved how sweet he was with Angie. I also loved the sweet moments between Benji and Lucy. He made my heart melt over and over again with the little things he did to show his love. The chemistry between Lucy and Benji was obvious from the first moment they met and I absolutely loved they had to fight to keep their hands off each other. I loved how much they wanted each other whether in a sweet slow love making scene or up against the wall can't get enough of each other scene. Lucy and Benji made me fall in love with them as a couple. Rushing the Goal was such a fun and sexy read. I fall in love with each couple in all of Ms. Aleo's books, and it was no different with Lucy and Benji. While I'm sad this is the last book that will focus on the Sinclair clan, I absolutely loved seeing Lucy finally find a man worthy of her love.

First, I am truly honored (and went extremely fan girl) to receive this as an advanced reader copy! Lucy and Benji are by far my new favorite characters. Lucy has a beautiful little girl named Angie and a jerk of an ex-husband. (Seriously, wanted to smack him!) Benji is a recovering alcoholic trying to overcome a family tragedy. I don't want to give any part of the storyline away, because it's that good! It the best book in the series!

I think Hockey romance books are becoming my favorite! Lucy Sinclair is a no nonsense woman who has been burned one too many times and is done with men. That is until Benji walks into her life. Benji steps in to help Lucy's daughter get ready for her first hockey practice when Angie's uncle can't make it. Benji is immediately attracted to Lucy despite the back off vibes she is shooting his way. After helping Angie with her first practice, he's hooked on the two of them. Neither Lucy nor Benji have had a very good beginning and after years of loneliness and bitterness, they both recognize the other is different. Benji is ready, but Lucy isn't, so he has to "fight her for her" (A quote from the book I love). Benji was one of my favorite characters. He was goofy, shy, awkward and incredibly sweet. He was a nice balance to Lucy's harshness, which he softens by the end of the book. Throw in a douchebag of an ex, Lucy's, and you got your bit of drama that has Benji stepping up to be the man Lucy didn't know existed. Great read! ARC proved by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
  • My favorite of the series so far!!!

This book is a "more than" five star read for me. Some books leave you sad, angry, happy, content or even confused but this book left my heart feeling so full of joy! I'm pretty sure it was the sexy, emotion-filled Benji Paxton, hockey player and the amazing little girl by the name of Angela Lynn Hart. This author has done an amazing job at making Angela's character a shining bright light and bringing us a strong sense of family. She's a beautiful little girl with ADHD, smart as a whip and for me, she was the star of this story. Her mother, Lucy Sinclair, is a very difficult woman because of past hurts. Benji, who has the patience of a saint, took one look at Lucy and decided that he wanted to try to break down those walls of hers. And Rick? I don't think there are enough words in the dictionary to describe what a vile human being he is. My emotions were up, down and all over the place while reading this story and I loved it! The bedroom chemistry between the sexy hockey players and the women they love is envious. We even got to see Shea Adler again and he's as sexy as ever! While the entire Assassins series is great, this book has to be my favorite so far. I highly recommend this fantastic sports romance. You won't be disappointed. I'm excited to see which player will get his story told next. Received a copy via in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.
